Setting up a VPN with Remote access through the router directly into one machine

CONFIGURE ROUTER
1) Configure the router to port forward port 1723 (pptp) to the required machine IP address.

SET UP AN INCOMING CONNECTION
2) From the "Network Connections" window On the required machine, Use the "Create a New Connection wizard" to configure an "Incoming Connection" (Set up an Advanced Connection > Accept incoming connections > LPT1).Setup usernames and passwords for allowed VPN users

SETUP REMOTE ACCESS CONNECTION
3) Setup Remote Access into the required machine. Open Control Panel and select "System". Select the "Remote" tab. click "Select Remote Users". Setup access for the remote users entering the log on name as set up in the "Incoming Connection" setup. Use "Add" and "Check Names" to cofirm users exist.

TURN OFF FIREWALL FOR TESTING VPN
4) Turn off ALL firewalls on the Required machine before testing then open port 1723 when test has passed.

TROUBLESHOOTING

It may be required to have the IP address to the requierd machine fixed rather than using DNS assigned.

Firewalls on are the required machine are the main problem, make sure there are no firewalls on when testing. Firewalls should be set up once it is established that the VPN is working
